Industrial & Food Processing Lagoon Dredging Nationwide

Approved Receiving Facility

Licensed by the Washington State Department of Ecology as an industrial solid waste land application facility.

Hydraulic dredge and floating pipeline on a settling pond

When a processing-plant lagoon fills with solids, treatment capacity drops and compliance risk rises. Bioterra provides turnkey hydraulic lagoon dredging for food processors and industrial facilities, managing the work from sediment removal to final beneficial use.

Who we dredge for

  • Fruit and vegetable processors, including high-organic wash-water solids and culled product
  • Dairy, meat and other food and beverage manufacturers with wastewater settling ponds
  • Industrial wastewater lagoons and settling ponds
  • Municipal wastewater lagoons (see municipal biosolids management)

How a lagoon cleanout works with Bioterra

  1. Scope and sampling: we review lagoon size, depth, solids content, grit and debris so the bid reflects the real job.
  2. Hydraulic dredging: portable hydraulic dredging equipment removes sludge from the lagoon while limiting disturbance to liner and berms.
  3. Mobile sludge dewatering: where needed, solids are dewatered to reduce hauling volume and cost.
  4. Permitted hauling: our own fleet of custom haul trailers moves material off site.
  5. Beneficial reuse: material goes to preapproved land-application and processing sites rather than a landfill, supporting corporate sustainability goals.

Why plant managers choose Bioterra

  • One contractor, start to finish. Extraction, transport and disposal are coordinated by a single team.
  • Preapproved sites. We accept industrial material by the ton at preapproved sites, which helps avoid waiting on approval for every individual load.
  • Food-industry focus. We specialize in organic residuals from food manufacturing, not general marine construction.
  • Compliance-minded. Work is planned around state and federal requirements, including EPA 40 CFR Part 503 and state biosolids rules such as WAC 173-308 in Washington.

Frequently asked questions

How much does lagoon dredging cost?

Cost depends on volume of solids, depth, access, dewatering needs and haul distance. Send us the lagoon dimensions and we will provide a written quote.

Do you handle the hauling and disposal too?

Yes. Bioterra operates its own haul fleet and delivers material to preapproved sites for beneficial agricultural reuse.

Can you dredge a lagoon with heavy grit or debris?

Tell us what is in the lagoon when you request a quote. Grit and debris affect equipment selection and pricing, and we plan for them up front.
